A target that actually fits the squad.
A single flat benchmark for an entire squad flatters some players and buries others. Vantic's reference targets are relative to sport, age band, and gender — your own coaching yardstick, not a number handed down from someone else's roster.
One adult standard for a 14-year-old
Relative to sport, age band, and gender
Relative by default
Every target is set against players of the same sport, age bracket, and gender, so a 14-year-old is never quietly measured against an adult standard just because they're on the same testing sheet. Whether a player sits above or below the line is visible instantly, without a coach doing the mental math themselves.
Your own yardstick, not the scoreboard
These targets are for a coach's own view — set them to whatever's useful for the squad's current block, and fill them in from the squad's average or best result whenever it's easier than typing numbers by hand. They never feed into APS or any other score: every player is still scored against the same platform-wide, cohort-relative benchmarks as everyone else, so a target set for internal planning can never quietly become the standard a player is actually judged against.
